Digital Twin Project
of the Year
MaRS Planning & Engineering Services was honored with the Digital Twin Project of the Year award at the Big 5 Global Impact Awards in Dubai for the 30 MLD Common Effluent Treatment Plant Wastewater project.
This recognition highlights our work in applying BIM, digital twin technology, and data-driven project coordination to a large-scale wastewater treatment facility. The project demonstrated how digital construction technologies can improve project visibility, coordination, planning, and decision-making across the project lifecycle.
Our team was responsible for the complete architectural design and development of the project. The space includes display zones, client lounges, service bays, and administrative areas. Each space was crafted with attention to flow, visibility, and high-end material use, creating a premium retail experience that enhances brand presence.
A Proud Moment for MaRS
Winning the Digital Twin Project of the Year award at the Big 5 Global Impact Awards was a significant milestone for our team.
The award recognized the digital approach developed for the 30 MLD Common Effluent Treatment Plant, located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The project used digital technologies to create better coordination between project disciplines and provide a more connected view of construction activities, schedules, and deliverables.
For MaRS, this achievement represents the combined efforts of our BIM, engineering, project management, and digital technology teams.
The Award-Winning Project
The project involved a 30 million litres per day wastewater treatment facility developed to support wastewater treatment and pollution control. MaRS Planning & Engineering Services served as the chief BIM consultant and used a digital approach to support construction management, multidisciplinary coordination, scheduling, and project delivery.
The project incorporated 4D scheduling and 5D cost simulations using Bentley SYNCHRO, creating a virtual environment for construction sequencing, logistics planning, and cost control.
From BIM to Digital Twin
BIM provided the foundation. Digital Twin technology connected the project information with real-world operations.
The project demonstrates our approach to moving beyond traditional 3D modeling. By integrating models, schedules, costs, and project data, the digital environment provided a more comprehensive platform for planning and managing the project.
This approach helped project stakeholders understand construction activities, coordinate multiple disciplines, and make informed decisions throughout the project lifecycle.
Digital Twin in Action
The project demonstrates how a Digital Twin can connect BIM models, project information, schedules, and construction activities within a coordinated digital environment.
The Digital Twin approach also supported operational monitoring and environmental management after construction. MaRS BIM Solutions reports that the facility uses digital twin technology to support monitoring programs and ongoing operational insights.
Celebrating the Team Behind the Award
From BIM specialists and engineers to project managers and digital technology professionals, the successful implementation of the project required collaboration across multiple disciplines.
We are proud to have represented MaRS at the Big 5 Global Impact Awards in Dubai and to have our work recognized on an international platform.
This achievement motivates us to continue developing smarter, more connected, and more efficient digital solutions for the built environment.
A Recognition of Digital Innovation
The Big 5 Global Impact Awards recognize projects and organizations demonstrating innovation and impact across the construction industry. In the 2023 awards, MaRS Planning & Engineering Services was named the winner of the Digital Twin Project of the Year category for the 30 MLD Common Effluent Treatment Plant Wastewater project.
This recognition strengthens our commitment to applying BIM, Digital Twin, VDC, and data-driven engineering solutions to complex infrastructure projects.
